Test: Amino Acids Quantitative CSF
Alternate names: CSF glycine, CGLY, CSF glutamine
Description: Quantitative Screen includes all major amino acids.
Clinical: Principally used together with plasma amino acid analysis to screen for Non Ketotic Hyperglycinaemia. CSF glutamine can be used to differentiate hyperammonaemia as a cause for encephalopathy but plasma ammonia is a preferable test.
Methodology: Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry
Turn around time: 14 days
Transit stability: If delayed, separate, freeze + send on ice
Comments: Glutamine and asparigine unstable
